In this lecture I hope to address the concept of physician wellness. I will outline the perceived scope of this topic by exploring the factors that are a challenge to physicians and by describing underlying causes, and their effects, both personal and system wide. Finally I will address some approaches to improve and maintain the well-being of the medical community.
